Kallistus

Kallistus is a fictional eight-person company that only does bathrooms and saunas in apartments, terraced houses and detached houses around Helsinki.

For most people a bathroom renovation is the most expensive renovation of the decade, and they fear two things: the price runs away and water ends up in the structures. Sites in the trade promise quality, but few show how waterproofing is done or what the job costs.

The idea is in the name: kallistus is the fall of the floor towards the drain. The logo is a wordmark with a line sloping into a drain, and the same line returns as the site’s dividers. The front page has prices and a calculator with the household tax credit, a fifteen-day timeline and the dry file: photos of every waterproofing layer. Measurements are set in a monospaced font like site markings. Typography is Host Grotesk and IBM Plex Mono in concrete and mortar tones.

1. The price is clear before the visitPrice ranges by room type and a calculator that works out the household tax credit for one or two owners.
2. Hidden work becomes visibleThe dry file shows the waterproofing layer by layer, and the ten-year guarantee rests on it.
3. The housing company is no obstacleRenovation notices, asbestos surveys and supervisor inspections are presented as a service, not as the client’s problem.
